CLASSES

Can I pay class-by-class?

As of January 2017, payment in full is required at the time of registration. We are no longer accepting class-by-class payments.

Exceptions will be made in the following cases:

  • Drop-in class: Wednesday evening Kum Nye, $18; Friday morning Kum Nye, $18; and Sunday morning Kum Nye, $15, are drop-in classes that may be paid class by class.
  • Financial aid: Students who apply and are accepted for a financial aid contract of installments. Please ask at the front desk for your financial aid contract.
  • Class audit: Students may audit one session of each class they wish to sample. Class audit fee is $18.

RETREATS

What is your policy for retreat cancellations and refunds? 

If you cancel more than 4 weeks before your retreat, you’ll receive a full refund.
If you cancel more than 2 weeks before your retreat, we will be happy to refund you minus a cancellation fee of $50.
If you cancel less than 2 weeks before your retreat date, there is a cancellation fee of 50% of the total contribution of your stay.
If you cancel on or after your retreat date, there is no refund.

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE 

How do I apply for a scholarship? 

You may request a form via email (nyingma-institute@nyingma.org) or at the front desk. Please fill out the form and return it via email or to the front desk.

You will receive notification of your status 1 week before the start date of the class or retreat that you have applied for.

How much is the scholarship for? 

We offer scholarships that cover 50% of the cost. This is the general scholarship that part-time volunteers and anyone in financial need is eligible to apply to.

If I have received a scholarship for a class or retreat in the past, do I have to apply again?

Yes, you must apply again for each class or retreat. We do not offer ongoing scholarships, but rather request that students re-apply for a scholarship to each class or retreat, as financial ability changes over time.

What criteria is used to determine who receives scholarships?

We grant scholarships based on financial need, how many other applications we receive for the same class or retreat, and who applied first.We do also take your history with us into consideration.

What if I receive a scholarship for a semester but miss some of the classes?

If you miss more than 1 class, this may affect consideration for future scholarships.

When is the deadline for scholarship applications?

The deadline for scholarship applications is 1 week prior to the class or retreat that you would like to attend.

How likely is it that I will receive a scholarship?

We offer a limited amount of scholarship places for each class or retreat. Scholarships are granted in part on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please apply early if you can.
